Spring is popping up!

Spring is finally here.  I saw some flowers popping up in my planter and it inspired me to make a Spring themed popup card.  Martha Stewart has some new popup punches as well that I thought added a nice touch.  I used the popup lily punch for the flowers on the inside and made a base for the whole card to pop-out.

I hope everyone else is starting to have nice weather.  I know parts of the US are still suffering from cold and snow.  Don't worry, Spring will be coming soon.

I just became an alcoholic (with ink)!

I've been experimenting with Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks.  The uncontrollable nature of the ink makes for some fabulous art.  The paper I used was a glossy and made the ink even more vibrant than I expected.  I've tried in the past with glossy photo paper and didn't get the same results but on the Ranger Ink glossy paper the ink dried much better with better results.

The colors can be mixed together like this card but lose some of the gold reflection of the glossy paper.  The colors mixed together and seem like looking at a marble surface, while the other card I waited for the ink to dry and it made more of an abstract art portrait.  It was so much fun that I want to put together a video sometime while playing with the alcohol ink.  Enjoy!

Besides playing with the alcohol ink I've been putting together more crafts for Easter.  If anyone is interested I'll put together another post with the wreaths and angels I've been making.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Today is a special day.  Every year we celebrate St. Patrick's Day for my husband.  His middle name is Patrick and he loves his Irish Heritage.  It's ironic I'm celebrating a traditionally Irish holiday on Italy's 150th anniversary.  There is a short explanation of the card after the break....

Easter Crafting

I've had so many ideas for Easter and I love the colors so much I decided it was time to try a bit of crafting for Easter.  I made two wreaths.  One for the front door and one for my dining room table.

I don't have a lot of experience crafting with wood or felt, and I learned a bit in the process of making this.  For example, no glue I normally use was willing to work.  I had to go out and get my first hot glue gun.  So far I really like it and it seems to work wonderfully.

The materials are all very inexpensive and I found it fun to mix a few scrapbook die cuts and flowers with the wreaths.  With Easter still a ways off I'm sure I'll get more practice.

I made this card because something wonderful outside the door inspired me.
Something called Nature.

For this project I used:
White cardstock
Rubber Brayer
Paintbox - ColorBox ink which has a whole rainbow of colors
Circle punch 2" for the sun
Tim Holtz stamp Nature's Moment
There is a video on you tube that can help you: Stampin with Tami Brayer Sunset.

For this other card I used a reflection technique.
The video that I followed is: TimeforCrafting.

I hope you enjoy my cards!
See you soon for another project.

Congratulations! It's a boy.

I made a card for Jacopo, my cousin Anita's son. He was born the 24 of February, and that is my inspiration for this event.
More pictures after the break!

Easter Eggs

These are the Easter egg cards I made for this year.  A little early but this way I'll be sure to get them in the mail on time for once.  Enjoy!

More after the break.
